Westminster Presbyterian Church
Please come and visit us if you happen to be in the area of Milton, Florida. We are a small, fairly informal fellowship that seeks to blend some of the best of the contemporary into a traditional service. We seek to be honestly and consistently reformed in our theology; conservative in our approach to life; and gracious in our approach to others. While we are imperfect in many ways, we do desire to view the world through a Biblical lens, applying God’s word to every aspect of life.
While our church membership is made up of men and women who have come from a variety of theological and church backgrounds, we are decidedly Presbyterian in our polity as well as our theology. Denominationally, we are affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) within the Gulf Coast Presbytery. We enjoy a church history going back to the 1950s and look forward to what God has planned for our fellowship in the future.

Distinctives:1) We hold that the 66 books of the Old and New Testament are inspired by the Holy Spirit and are thus inerrant and infallible in all they record and teach. This means that scripture is capable of interpreting itself and is our only rule for faith and practice. Not only has God worked a great salvation in our lives as believers in Jesus Christ, but he has given us one great book, the Bible, so that we may know him and cherish him all the more. The words of scripture are our life-blood and our nourishment not just on Sundays, but every day of the week.
2) Salvation is a result of God’s Grace alone, worked through Faith in Jesus Christ alone, and is all done for the Glory of God alone. These four points, along with the Scriptural authority, are sometimes known as the “Five Solas” of the Reformation. In other words, these five points comprised the basis battle cry of the protestant churches as they separated from Roman authority, and we continue that rich tradition as we stand firmly for the great truths that they embody.
3) We are a creedal and a confessional church. As part of the PCA, we affirm the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Catechisms as the best concise summery of scriptural teaching. Indeed, this confession is a fallible document written by fallible men, but we believe that it clearly describes, as best as we can understand, what the Prophets and Apostles sought to teach in their ministries. In addition, we enjoy a rich tradition of other, Reformed confessional documents like that of the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession, and the Councils of Dordt. We also, in the tradition of orthodox Christianity, affirm the language of the four ecumenical creeds as defining the essence of the content of what one must intellectually affirm if one is to be called, “Christian.” These creeds are the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Christological Statement of Chalcedon, and the Athenasian Creed. These creeds, in a clear and unambiguous way, primarily deal with the language we must use in speaking of the Trinity and of the dual nature of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4) It is our heartfelt belief that there are not enough words in the human language nor tunes in human composition to adequately praise our sovereign Lord and King. Thus, we encourage not only the use of “tried and true” hymns of the faith, but also seek to include the best of the world of contemporary music as well into our worship. Thus, we hold that when the Apostle spoke of coming together singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual psalms, that he was speaking of the use of music both past, present, and future as tools to guide us in our praise of God. We also believe that as the elders in heaven will be writing “a new song” for the purpose of praise that there is a principal, if not a mandate, for every generation to write songs of praise and honor to our Great and Almighty Triune God.
5) The reason that the church is called a “sanctuary” is because it is meant to be one. We live in a world that is committed to intimidate, to break down, and to destroy those who seek to consistently live our their faith. Thus, we need a place where we can escape from those onslaughts, recover, lick our wounds, and be re-equipped to head back into the fight. Sadly, we are fallen humans and do not always live up to this ideal, yet this is our goal when we gather together in fellowship.
6) Our job is threefold: First, and foremost, we have the task of glorifying God. Secondly, we have the task of reaching out to the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And, thirdly, we have the task of building up believers, allowing them to rest and to heal from the wounds that life inflicts. There is likely much more that I could say, yet, if you want to know more, please come and visit us one Sunday for worship.
Blessings in Christ,
Win Groseclose, Pastor, WPC Milton
